It's that time of the year again... the Scribble Jam is here. Since 1996 , every Summer backpackers from around the country have touched down in Ohio (of all places) to see performances from their favorite indie artists, and politic with industry insiders. There's other stuff that happens, like dj and graffiti exhibitions and an emcee battle.
It's strange...two years ago I was hyped to go there. Now I couldn't care less. My cousin/member of my hip-hop group wants to go to promote some of our new music, but things haven't worked out.
I think I outgrew a lot of that college radio style hip-hop once I realized there was as much posing underground as there is in the mainstream. I still love the Quannum crew (esp. Gift and Lyrics Born), but there always seemed to be a healthy degree of separation from their style and what the Def Jux/Rhymesayers/Anticon camps were doing.
Anyway, anyway...if you plan on going this weekend, or are already there, drop a comment.
Update: Congrats to iLLmacuLate, who won the MC Battle.
last year I went and wrecked my car on US 52 turning into the parking lot. this year I'm staying home and spinning twice. I think I'm comin out on top.
